John McCain Accidentally Tells The Truth

According to a recent report in the Chicago Tribune, Oct 16, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said in an interview, selection_490

“I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up,”

This resulted in minor but predictable blowback from Democrats. Then, much like a cat who has a really obnoxiously runny turd, Republicans had a moment of self awareness when they realized what saying that out loud in public meant, so all the GOP cats got to scratching in order to cover that shit up.

It corroborates what I’ve been saying on my blog and in comments on others for months now. Republicans have no qualms about stooping to whatever depth needed to get their way and will do it as long as it takes. Liberals who, in their well meaning panic, have used the SCOTUS appointments to justify supporting Hillary are victims of deliberate manipulation from both parties. If Democrats were truly concerned about PBO having a SCOTUS nomination, business on the Hill would have ground to a halt until this was resolved. Instead we hear nothing. The reality is, Democrats [DNC] are well aware that GOP obstruction will continue regardless of who sits in the White House. Little credible effort is being made by Democrats to retake control of Congress. They might move the 4 or 5 seats necessary to get control of the Senate, but it’s iffy at best. Things will remain the same, and that’s just how both parties leadership want it. It’s a useful tool for leveraging fundraising, and for coercing who they regard as useful idiots to vote the way they want.

So far, everything’s going according to plan.

Problem is, John McCain isn’t telling the truth there. He can’t possibly be. A rep congress would not stand in the way of qualified Scotus candidates, regardless of whether Hillary was elected. They do now, because they don’t want Obama to have a third supreme Court appointment. McCain is not telling the truth. I won’t be voting for him either, and I’m from az

Time will tell. I’m convinced we’ve seen the measure of the GOP in their actions so far. Only a month now until they tip their hand….

The GOP aren’t planning to steal anything. They’re just waiting for the inevitable. Hillary being elected, then they will return to giving the progressives almost everything they want, just like they did with obama

We have very differing views on what the GOP’s relationship to Obama is. If they co-operate with Hillary on anything it will be because their interests align, not because they are in the mood to capitulate to progressives.
