Dear SailorDale: If We Edited all the Incorrect Stuff From Your Replies There’d Be Nothing Left.

  1. The following is an answer that is logistically too long to try and fit in over at Arkenaten’s blog, “ATaleUntold” The black text is “SailorDale” and the red and green text is me.

  2. You think I have not read my Bible, [Yes I think that. It’s the only conclusion I can come to based on the things you write.]
  3. you think you know more than Christians about the Bible, [I DO know more than many christians about the bible. I have the education and personal experience to back it up.]
  4. you think we are wrong because we don’t buy into your skewed views about the Bible [No, I think you’re just plain wrong. Whether we agree about the theology is irrelevant. The factual errors and contradictions in the bible are what concern atheists. We like to believe as many true things as possible, and reject things that can’t possibly be true.
  5. I make no claims about what you know or don’t know, [I could fill another whole blog post with the things you claim atheists do, believe, or say. The bulk of your replies are nothing but false assertions about things you can’t possibly know.]
  6. And I definitely find the things you say about Christians and the Bible to be totally obnoxious! [I guess we’re even on that score]
  7. I don’t know how in-depth you read the Bible, because you sure do come up with a bunch of myths that you think the Bible says. [See #5]
  8. You are an atheist, because you want to live in your own little world of denial. [See#5]
  9. I know that God’s Word accomplishes exactly what it is meant to do, and if it turned you away from wanting to be a Christian, then Praise God! [See #2 and#5]
  10. You are the one that took my replies from this blog and started your own little “bash fest” for you and your foolish atheist readers, [I am? Link please. I did move my reply here due to it’s length and my need for greater editorial autonomy than what’s available in the reply function of someone else’s blog. Oh, and see#5]
  11. You atheists don’t even understand the ways of God, you just have your pre-conceived notions of how you think a god should be. The god of your understanding IS a false god, 100% man made -by You! The Real God of the Bible is Far above what you think He should be! [See#5]
  12. God owes nobody an explanation of His actions or ways. [See#5]
  13. No human will ever completely understand God this side of Eternity! If God was so small that the human mind could understand / comprehend Him fully, then He wouldn’t be God, because he would be too small. His ways are not our ways. [What you’re saying applies to christians as well. How can you believe in something you couldn’t possibly understand? See#5]
  14. And God decided to not leave the kind of evidence that you think He should have left on Earth for you to be able to prove His existence. [First of all, a hidden god is indistinguishable from a non existent one. But that’s not what the bible you insist you’ve read says. Jesus throughout the gospels performed miracles for the specific purpose of providing evidence he was divine. You should also familiarize yourself with the conversations he had with Thomas after the resurrection. A god who wasn’t interested in evidence wouldn’t have A: bothered to appear after his death B: sent angels with messages C: let Thomas feel and see the wounds from the crucifixion. See#2,4, and 5]
  15. And it most definitely takes MORE Faith to believe in the science fiction fantasy fairy tale called evolution! [Science is self correcting. When new information comes to light we adjust what we accept as true to match the evidence. No faith is involved anywhere in the process. Religion, on the other hand, flies planes into buildings, burns witches at the stake, owns slaves, and throws gays from rooftops. Reformation only happens when no other alternative presents itself in a progressive well ordered society. [See #5]
  16. You atheists have such a high bar when it comes to wanting evidence for God, and for evolution, your bar is so incredibly low! There are ZERO hard, scientific facts (by your definition) that definitely prove evolution. [Sigh. See#5]
  17. Just snippets of evidence and the rest (99%) figments of someone’s imagination, outrageously stretching the credibility of them. And all of those “peer reviewed papers” that you put so much credibility in are the exact same thing- a fragment of information, blown up with a lot of imagination. Then, after a while of them being passed around for “peer review” they become your factual evidence!!! Lol… [See#5]
  18. I know you & your cronies are going to scoff, mock, and dissect this, [Yes. Yes I am. You invite this upon yourself with your nonsense.]

I dunno. He’s out there on a lot of other stuff. He sure can churn out the repent or burn in hell rhetoric.

When they start that, “evolution is just a theory” crap, I figure they’re lost causes. You’d be amazed how many very articulate writers (which gives them a fair amount of credibility) offer that. Makes you shake your head.

I know, right? Evolution and Gravity are both theories. I wonder if SD worries about flying up in the air when he leaves his house in the morning. What gets me is the ritual “it takes more faith” horseshit. That’s some schoolyard nonsense. They need to grow TF up.

I got that one from a person yesterday – “atheists have faith, too”. No, I assured him – we have trust. Trust in the scientific method. . faith is for religious people in lieu of proof. 🙂

We have Frank Turek to thank for the “atheist/faith” meme. As he’s not that keen an intellect or that much of an original thinker, there’s no telling who he cribbed it from.

Reading his responses, it seemed that near the end he was foaming a bit. You could almost hear the snap of the keyboard, and the spittle…
I would disagree with “atheists do not have faith”, however. Someone pulls that on me, I tell em, I have faith. I believe in ME. In a way it’s like barking at a barking dog. They don’t expect it, and it gives you time to get to the door. =)

The other thing (before I forget) that has always puzzled me: if God is real, why are there so many strange religions inventing him? If he was real, there would be no need for a church, a religion, a striving. Or a communion plate. We would not need ministers or priests to tell us what God said. We’d know.

    Nicely done, by the way.

Uh, I have to ask how SailorDale knows this. On one hand, Christians claim that the mind of their god is unknowable and Mr Dale thinks that not only is it knowable, but he knows it. This is what drives nonbelievers batty, the lack of an consistency. These are the people who claim that not only is their god “good” but He is all-good, the ultimate good, etc. Hello, this is the being who created Hell and Satan. Since He is all-powerful, He could uncreate them “poof” but He has not. How this equates to being “all-good” I can’t quite fathom. I guess I just can’t know the mind of their god. But I do know my own mind and any creator who created Hell and Satan would be flat out evil in my book.

  5. This God was so unconcerned about evidence he supposedly left a book that was divinely inspired as evidence.
